Photoshop CS4
I just downloaded Photoshop CS4... Giving it a whirl, so far I love it.
Anybody else have CS4? Comments?
Tom

Re: Photoshop CS4
Haven't made the plunge yet, but just upgraded the laptop. CS4 is next. What do you like about it so far.......

Re: Photoshop CS4
Hi Tom and Vic -
I received my upgrade disk to CS4 (from CS2) around the first of the month. I installed it the next day and discovered it was somewhat "different." It took me a while to get back to the old familiar interface, i.e.,no tabs, the old palettes, etc. It was too disruptive to my workflow to go with the default. I now have a workspace saved that works for me. I still like Nikon Capture NX2 better than the Photoshop raw editor. Raw editor now works with my new Nikon D300s (was unable to get update for CS2). Bridge is 100 times better than my old version.
Strangely enough, after installing the program, it didn't work properly at all. I did the old heave-ho with the preferences file, and forced the program to reinstall the default. Then it started working properly. Now I have copied the working preferences file to another folder, to be reinstalled when the program decides to corrupt and malfunction. Some things never seem to change! Still have CS2 on my computer, just in case.

Re: Photoshop CS4
Hey Gary-
Maybe its a PC thing, not a PS thing. ;-)
I never have those problems w/ my Macs. I think I'll go get CS4 tomorrow and play with it a little. If it crashes the new PowerBook Pro, I'll let y'all know.

Re: Photoshop CS4
Hi All,
Well the speed is amazing on the Mac 8-core. I have a 250-gig scratch disk, 10 gigs of ram, CS3 was still slow, CS4 is like I said amazingly fast. Really takes advantage of the new Intel chips.
Tools I use all the time like spot tool, crop, HDR, are much more intuitive, and I haven't even scratched the surface. I like Bridge now too... It used to give me fits.
The tools take a bit of getting used to, but so far I have no problems at all.

Re: Photoshop CS4
I upgraded to CS4 a few weeks ago and it's great. I have new Macs and can see a performance difference. Other than performance I think it's great that Adobe went back to the basic tools and did some thinking on how to make things better.
I usually buy an updated Photoshop book whenever a new version comes out just to be sure I'm picking up on the new features. Does anyone have any recommendations for CS4? It may be too early yet for CS4 books.
